Residential Treatment

At least 20 million people in the United States struggle with a substance abuse problem. Millions more won’t seek treatment for several reasons including not having the money to do so. Roughly, only 10 percent of people with substance abuse problems will get the help they need. Some who receive it will enter a residential treatment to leave addiction behind and change their lives.

At California Highlands, we offer a residential treatment program that can meet the needs of our clients in a serene, beautiful, and peaceful California setting that’s perfect for healing. Our individualized treatment plans ensure you or your loved one gets the attention and care that are needed for your specific situation.

What to Expect from Our Residential Treatment Programs

At California Highlands, we believe you are important and deserve to be comfortable. Our clients typically spend between 30 and 60 days in our luxurious facility that feels like home away from home. During this time, they meet with other clients and therapists as they explore their psychological dependence on a substance. They come face to face with their addiction in a compassionate setting, learning the causes of their substance abuse problems and how to use strategies and tools that ensure they remain sober and avoid a relapse.

First-time clients go through an assessment process. During that time, an addiction specialist will evaluate your needs. We will then work with you or your loved one to develop the proper treatment plan for you.

The first stage of recovery is a medical detox, where you will be provided with 24-hour supportive care as addictive substances are safely removed from the body. It is important to stick with this process—which can take anywhere from three to 10 days—because your mind and body need time to adjust as it continues to function without addictive substances.

A detox also ensures you or your loved one is kept safe as the body goes through drug or alcohol withdrawal. Any anticipated problems will be addressed by knowledgeable medical staff on board, one of several reassuring benefits that come with completing detox in a professional, clinical setting. After the detox process ends, clients will get to the heart of addiction treatment, when you will develop skills you will need to live without your substance.

What Happens After Detox?

Completing detox is critical to recovery from a substance abuse problem. After the process is finished, we encourage everyone who comes to us to improve their physical and mental health and overall well-being with clinically proven methods and modalities that have helped countless people work through their addictions.

Our treatment programs are customized to meet the specific and unique needs of the person receiving treatment to ensure they get most out of recovery and have the proper foundation in place as they move forward in sobriety. We also offer mental health education, daily goal-setting sessions, and relapse prevention.

Our most commonly used therapy models include:

Fellow clients often have much in common and provide invaluable support. The group therapy sessions can ensure clients know they are not alone.

With a staff of talented therapists, California Highlands provides personalized treatment for clients to help them address emotional issues that contribute to addiction.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses negative thoughts and actions associated with addiction. With CBT, clients learn practical strategies and skills to combat old habits.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy focuses on the triggers that lead to substance abuse. It also involves meditation and a highly supportive relationship between client and therapist.

This technique identifies key issues but also works to encourage clients to think more positively and embrace changes that can improve their lives.

Meditation and staying in the present are core concepts of many successful recovery programs. California Highlands clients learn how to incorporate these practices into their daily lives.

Addiction is often described as a family disease. Clients can start to heal some of the wounds of addiction with family therapy sessions.

Addiction treatment doesn’t stop when the client leaves the facility. California Highlands has programs to prevent relapse and ensure success.
